GoogleAppEngine’s Terms of Service Fails

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

I was looking forward to GoogleAppEngine, but you won’t see me touching it with a ten foot pole after reading through their Terms of Service last night (yes, I read those things). Here’s what I caught:

By submitting, posting or displaying the Content on or through the Service you give Google a worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such Content for the sole purpose of enabling Google to provide you with the Service in accordance with its privacy policy.

Are you kidding me? Royalty-free and a non-exclusive license to reproduce your app? It’s too bad, because Jason and I were really looking forward to seeing how it would perform.
